TCU-SMU Athletic Training Workshop returns to the TCU campus this summer as an on-campus residential experience where students who are interested in learning what a career in athletic training is really like.
This workshop is also open to any coaches or administrators who want to learn more about the athletic training field or enhance their basic first aid and taping skills.
Mustang Track
Designed to benefit the high school student with little to no prior athletic training experience. Students can expect to:
- Develop hands-on athletic training skills
- Learn the role and responsibilities of an athletic trainer
- Practice skills necessary to prepare athletes for practice and competition
- Participate in clinical coursework
- Visit the TCU Athletic Training Facilities
- Gain insight into Athletic Training education pathways
Frog Track
Designed for the advanced high school or junior college student, and coaching staff member who has previous experience working with injured athletes. Participants can expect to:
- Increase their knowledge about rehabilitation
- Learn evaluation techniques
- Learn specific taping procedures
- Participate in clinical coursework
- Visit the TCU Athletic Training Facilities
- Gain insight into Athletic Training education pathways
TCU recreational facilities will be available for participant use during free time along with interactive activities and relaxation time taking place in the evenings. Participants will be housed on TCU’s campus and will enjoy meals served in the BLUU, a fine university dining hall.
The cost of attendance is $400 per participant staying overnight, which includes housing and meals. A $300 day rate is offered for coaching staff members and commuting students.
The registration and deposit deadline is May 15, 2024. Enrollment is limited to the first 100 applicants.
